The
Carbondale area provides a number of exceptional educational
opportunities for both students and other community members
who wish to continue their education.
There are three elementary school districts in the immediate
area. The Unity Point School District is located south of the
Southern Illinois University campus, Giant City School District
which is located southeast of the campus and the Carbondale
Elementary School District located solely within the city limits.
The new Carbondale Community High School is located in the city's
"Super Block." This new facility provides the state
of the art learning facilities and resources. It also provide
quick access to sports and recreational facilities within the
"Super Block" area.
Both
John A. Logan College and the Southern Illinois University offer
both traditional and nontraditional classes.
The
Carbondale area also provides excellent library services through
the Carbondale Public Library and Southern Illinois University's
Morris Library. Community Members can also utilize the resources
of the Shawnee Library System.

Elementary School District #95 lies within the boundaries of
the City of Carbondale and houses four attendance centers: Parrish
School holds grades Pre-K, K and 1; Thomas School supports grades
2 and 3; Lewis School houses grades 4 and 5; Carbondale Middle
School contains grades 6, 7 and 8. While housed in separate
attendance centers, District #95 students enjoy a unique individualized
curriculum aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards, rich
cultural diversity and a strong parent involvement and community
volunteer program.

a private non-profit day and boarding school for students with
complex learning disabilities. Brehm provides academic programs
